Free Comic Book Jay

The Free Comic Book Day (FCBD) website has unveiled the Gold level comic book offerings for this year's big event. Among them is Dark Horse's flip book featuring Star Wars: Clone Wars and Avatar: The Last Airbender, including "Dirty is Only Skin Deep" a short Avatar story written by yours truly.

But it gets even better, Avatar fans! In a recent press release, Dark Horse announced that there are even more Avatar: The Last Airbender comics on the way this year and next.

Speaking of more comics, as I've previously posted, I'm also in Oni Press' all-ages FCBD title, Rated Free for Everyone, which introduces the forthcoming graphic novel Power Lunch by me and Dean Trippe. Further details on that coming soon.

For now, you can visit the FCBD website for more information including a full list of all the free comics you can bring home from your friendly neighbourhood comic shop on May 7th!

And the nominees are...

Nominees for the 2011 Joe Shuster Awards, Canada's Comic Book Creator Awards, have been announced. Among the nominees are some old friends and former collaborators including Francis Manapul, with what I believe is his first ever nomination, and Scott Chantler who received a whopping three nominations this year!

Oh yeah, and I was nominated in the writing category.

Winners will be announced on Saturday, June 18th at the Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo. You can find the full list of nominees and more information on the Shuster Awards here.
