To Boldly Go...

Assignment #2 for the year was a script for the upcoming Batman: The Brave and the Bold comic book adapatation of the inspired new cartoon. Yes, I'm working on another comic book based on a cartoon based on a comic book - and I'm loving it! I'm also loving the cartoon, which I encourage everyone to check out because it's just so much dang fun, especially if you're a "DC Kid" like me.

I don't know if I'm at liberty to reveal the names of the players in my first issue, but let's just say Batman teams up with one of my all-time favourite superheroes since I was a kid, not only because of certain mythological connections but also because he sports what is probably my all-time favourite superhero costume design. The villain I chose for the story is a relatively new character from the DCU, but one that's also a great deal of fun to play with because of her mythological connections, so to speak.

I've been told this story may end up as issue #5 (which would mean a May release), but I'll confirm that after I get final script approval. It looks like I'll be doing more issues too, including one that will reunite me with an old friend and collaborator... as well as an old friend from the last ongoing all-ages comic book I wrote.

Meanwhile, GO watch the cartoon (consult your local listings as they say!) plus make sure to pick up Batman: The Brave and the Bold #1 which should be in stores next week!

First Assignment of 2009

Hello, everyone and Happy New Year!

I'm currently in Korea visiting family on an "extended" Christmas holiday, but I'm also working while I'm here. In fact, I just turned in the first draft of my first assignment of 2009: a 10-page Avatar: The Last Air Bender comic story for Nickelodeon Magazine. Please stay tuned for an issue number and release date!

In the meantime, you can enjoy other Avatar comics online at the Nick Mag website:

All your favourite Nicktoons characters are there in comic form, and you might even come across some old Rugrats stories I did way back when...
